Hello University School families,
We have a busy week ahead at University School as we head into student-led conferences and Spring Break. Before looking ahead, I want to share a quick reflection from last week. On Friday morning we wrapped up our SoundKreation residency with a wonderful showcase for families. It was so nice to see many parents able to join us and celebrate the learning, creativity, and joyful dance moves of our students. Thank you again to our School Council and Association for their continued support, which helps make learning opportunities like artist residencies possible for our students.
This week we will also be recognizing a few important events within our school community that celebrate inclusion, culture, and belonging.
Thank you for your continued support. Here's to another week of learning together!

Rock Your Socks – World Down Syndrome Day
Even though the official day is March 21, our school will recognize World Down Syndrome Day on Wednesday, March 18 by participating in "Rock Your Socks." Students are invited to wear bright, bold, mismatched, or fun socks to celebrate the uniqueness and contributions of individuals with Down syndrome. Wearing fun socks is a simple way to help start conversations about inclusion, kindness, and celebrating differences. We look forward to seeing everyone rock their socks on Wednesday!
Recognizing Nowruz
On Thursday morning, March 19, our school will be recognizing Nowruz, the Persian New Year, which begins on March 20 and celebrates the arrival of spring and new beginnings.
One of our University School families has generously offered to provide a nut-free treat for students to help mark the occasion. Apple Spice Cupcakes, prepared in a nut-free kitchen, will be delivered to the school on Thursday, March 19 and shared with students at the end of the morning. Ingredient labels will be included, and alternative options will be available to support common dietary needs. If you do not wish for your child to have the snack due to allergens or food restrictions, please advise your child's homeroom teacher.
We are grateful for opportunities like this to recognize and learn about important cultural traditions within our school community, and we thank this family for helping us celebrate.
Student-Led Conferences and Spring Break
Thursday, March 19 is a full day of school for students. Please note that there is no Kindergarten on Thursday. Student-Led Conferences will take place Thursday afternoon and evening, as well as Friday. These conferences provide a wonderful opportunity for students to share their learning and progress with their families.
Following conferences, students will begin Spring Break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday, March 30.
