Our dedicated educators, along with a comprehensive curriculum, ensure an enriching academic experience tailored to your individual strengths and aspirations. Every day at our school is an opportunity to discover, grow, and achieve.
Enrolling Your Child at University School
Our school strives to provide the best possible education for all students. We serve a student population that comes from the local communities in the school's catchment area.
We are also able to welcome some students from out of our catchment area each year depending on available space. While we are closely connected to the communities surrounding the school, our close proximity to the Foothills Medical Centre and University of Calgary make the school a popular choice for families with parents who work at one of these locations.
University School has a longstanding history of being an innovative school that offers its students a well-rounded, academically-oriented program that places an emphasis on the arts as well as the use of technology.
Before enrolling your child, we encourage you to make an appointment to learn more about what University School uniquely offers its students. Because of the significant increase in registrations for children who reside outside the school's attendance boundary, these students will be placed on a contact list. Enrollment decisions are made in May of each year, pending space availability.
Please contact our main office at 403-777-6240 to book an appointment or to pick up a registration package.
Changes at Senator Patrick Burns, and F. E. Osborne Schools
Effective for the 2025-26 school year, Senator Patrick Burns School will change from a Grade 6 to 9 configuration for the Spanish Bilingual program to a Grade 7 to 9 configuration. This will align the Spanish Bilingual and Regular programs to be the same grade configurations.
For the 2025-26 school year and beyond, designation changes will be implemented for students living in the University of Calgary and University District communities. Grade 7 to 9 Regular program students living in these communities will be re-designated from F. E. Osborne School to Senator Patrick Burns School. This will align students with their cohorts into their designated high school.
See the notice for more information.
Regular Program
What is the Regular Program?
The Regular Program spans from kindergarten through grade 12, providing a comprehensive educational experience. In alignment with provincial standards, our curriculum not only integrates academics, arts, and physical education but also emphasizes tailoring the learning adventure to individual strengths and interests. We're all about inclusivity, providing special education resources to support diverse learning needs. Beyond the classroom, students dive into a world of extracurricular activities, including sports, arts, music, and community service, making every day exciting. We believe in teamwork, actively encouraging parental involvement through events like parent-teacher conferences, creating a collaborative and supportive educational atmosphere.
Alternative Program
Learning to Fit Each Student's Needs and Interests
Alternative programs provide a distinct educational experience by focusing on specific subjects or languages and engaging students with advanced learning methods or in unique classroom environments. These programs are designed to personalize education to meet students' learning needs and goals. Additionally, some alternative programs may be more flexible regarding schedule or structure, giving students greater control over their learning. Parental involvement is highly encouraged through activities such as parent-teacher conferences and school events.
Registration for Non-Canadian Students
Welcome to Our Diverse and Inclusive Academic Community!
