Week of September 25 - Thank You, Orange Shirt Day, Terry Fox Run, Picture Day, School Council Meeting, . . .
Thank You for Coming
What an incredible night to come together to enjoy the company of the students, families and staff at University School. We hope everyone met someone new and got to a few of the many things that make University School such a wonderful place to learn and work.
Last night was an opportunity to meet your children’s teachers but did not provide opportunities for in-depth conversations about their learning. If you feel as though you would like to meet with your child’s teacher before the conferences in November, we ask that you email them to arrange a meeting.
We look forward to hosting more family events throughout the year that allow us to come together and celebrate your children and their learning.
Orange Shirt Day - Commitment to Reconciliation
As part of University School’s commitment to reconciliation through education, we will be participating in Orange Shirt Day & Every Child Matters on Thursday, September 28. We are encouraging students and staff to wear orange clothing as we come together in reflection.
Throughout the week classes will be engaging in age-appropriate activities to enhance student understanding. On Thursday, students will participate in a walk down to the pond in reflection and then return to engage in conversations outside as a class in circle.

Terry Fox Run
University School’s Terry Fox Walk/Run is about two weeks away. On Friday, October 6, 2023, all students and staff will be participating by running between the school and the duck pond after coming together in the gym for a kickoff.
Like last year, all donations must be done online directly to the Terry Fox foundation. Thank you to everyone who has donated thus far as we have already raised over $1000 but there is still a ways to go to reach our goal. Student Picture Day
Lifetouch Student Picture Day is on Monday, September 25. All students present will have a group and individual photos taken. Pictures will be sent home with your child(ren) at a later date so that you can review them and decide if you would like to purchase them. Photo retakes will be occurring on October 26.
School Council & Parent Association Meeting
We would love to see all University School families represented at the first School Council and Parent Association meeting of the 2023-24 school year. The meeting is on Wednesday, September 27 @ 6:45pm. The meetings will again be held virtually as it allows for more of you to join and participate.
Mr. Lang and Ms. Bonanno will also be sharing some of the plans and structures for the 2023-24 school year and the path forward, as well as some general updates regarding the school.
It is a great opportunity to find out more about University School, ask questions, and be a part of something bigger. You can be an active participant in the meeting or just listen to what is being said, all from the comfort of your own home! It is with the support of University School Families and the community that we can provide such wonderful learning opportunities for

A Note from School Council,
School Council is looking to expand this year! We know there are many people in our community looking to get further involved with the school. School Council provides everyone with the opportunity to have their input into community events, fundraisers, etc. We will be meeting on Wednesdays, approximately every six weeks this year, and we invite everyone to attend virtually. In these meetings, you have a chance to hear school updates from the UES admin team, as well as contribute to conversations around event planning and ways to both raise and spend Council/Association money. We would benefit from input from the different families at our great school. Police Clearance is NOT required to be a part of School Council. Thoughts/comments/questions are always welcome at our email: universityschoolcouncil@gmail.com
We look forward to meeting new faces and hearing new ideas for the 2023/24 school year.
