Week of November 27 - Student Learning, School Ttravel Planning, Food Bank, Gymnastics, . . .

Sharing Student Learning

It was nice seeing the many families who were able to make it to the Student Learning Conferences. We believe that it is important to be open, upfront, and honest about your children’s learning so that we can continue to work together to allow them to be as successful as possible.

We are looking at ways of more regularly communicating and demonstrating student learning to allow you a better window into their academic achievement.

If you have any questions about your child’s learning or would like to speak to their teacher please email them directly to set up a meeting.

School Travel Planning - Student Safety

Many parents walked or cycled to school when they were young. But, times have changed and car culture is taking over. Now, fewer students are using active modes of transportation (i.e., walking, cycling, rollerblading, scooting) for their school journey.

In order to make things safer we are working with Ever Active Schools and the City of Calgary on a School Travel Planning (STP) project. STP is a process that involves school staff, parents and students working with transportation/traffic staff, police and public health to develop a plan to address parental concerns and challenges about school routes, and get more students walking and cycling for the school journey.

To help us better understand the travel behaviours of our school community, we ask that you complete this Baseline Family Travel survey https://forms.office.com/r/rrDtfBUvp7 .

To find out more about STP and to answer your questions, clink on this link for a School Travel Planning for Parents information page.

Head to Toe Gymnastics

This week we will be beginning working with stations involving a variety of climbing equipment such as benches, balance beams and trestles and the Canadian Climber.
