Happy Holidays

What another incredible start to the school year. I had an opportunity this week to visit each class to share a story and also thank all of the students for making this a great place to learn. We are so lucky to have such wonderful students and families who support them. The school truly feels like a family because our students, staff, and families come together to help one another in so many different ways. 

University School appreciates the kindness and gratitude that your families have shown the students, staff, and community this year.  We had many kind donations of gift cards that allowed us to support many families during this holiday season. On behalf of all of the families whose holidays were made a little brighter, thank you for your generosity!

We respect and value the uniqueness of each other and are glad that we have opportunities to celebrate who we are and where we have come from throughout the year. It was great to see the variety of food that students brought for the Winter Solstice Lunch and more importantly, the stories that came with the food. I appreciate that more students are sharing their cultures with us in other ways such as through music and other celebrations.

We know that the break will look different for every family. Whether you are staying close or travelling far, keeping warm inside or seeking outside adventures, the staff of University School wishes you and your family the very best during the holiday season!

We would like to wish everyone joy as they celebrate Christmas, Winter Solstice, Kwanzaa, Las Posadas, or New Years, and a 2024 filled with happiness and health.

Kindergarten Registration - 2024-25

Kindergarten Registration begins on Monday, January 15. 

Information for registering your child for kindergarten can be found on the CBE website or by accessing the following link Kindergarten - Great Learning Starts Here. Beginning on January 15 registration can be completed online through School Engage.

Or, feel free to call University School for more information. We are planning an open house in late spring for all families interested in attending University School for the 2024-25 school year. More information to follow in the coming weeks.

Fun Snack - Kernels Popcorn - Jan 11

Saturday, January 6  is the last day to order the super popular Kernels Popcorn Fun Snack. This snack will be handed out on Thursday, January 11.

Also, we are continuing the highly successful option in Healthy Hunger for families to donate / buy snacks for friends so that the school can purchase items for those students who are unable to do so themselves. It is wonderful seeing University School community coming together to help each other out.

Community Skating Party

University Heights Community Association Skating Party - Weather permitting!

January 21, 2024,  12 to 2 PM

Come to University Heights community skating rink (green space between Utah Crescent and Utah Place, next to the sound wall, see map below) to enjoy a skate and then warm up by the fire.

We will also be accepting skate donations for University School’s skate library. Students at the school have the opportunity to skate, some for the first time, because of this amazing resource. If you have any questions, please reach out to Andrea, andrea@uhcacalgary.org. Hope to see you there!
