We hope you had a wonderful weekend enjoying the beautiful September weather! It’s been such a joy to see the energy and excitement building as we settle into the school year. As we look ahead, we want to share some important updates and information to help keep you connected with all that’s happening at our school

Open House September 18 5:30 – 6:30 pm

• On Thursday, September 18, from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm, there will be an opportunity to meet other University School families while enjoying some music and treats outside before heading inside to see child(ren)s classrooms and look around the school. All students and their families are welcome to attend.
• Please note, this is not a conference and there is no time allotted to speak one on one with your child’s teacher about your child and their learning. If this is required, please email your child’s teacher to set up a meeting at another time. Beginning at 5:30 pm there will be music playing in the compound/playground area and we will be providing treats that are for students and any adults that would like one. Thank you to the School Council and Parent Association that has generously donated these items.
• At 6:00 pm, we will announce that families can begin heading inside. Teachers will be available if you have questions and you will get a chance to see the classrooms as well as tour the school and visit the Gymnasium, Music room, and Learning Commons during this time.  All teachers sent out a slideshow in their weekly update with some information about their class for you to look at that will likely answer many questions that you may have. We look forward to seeing everyone out on Thursday, September 18 from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.

University School T-shirts and New Students 

All new students who have joined us so far at University School received a complimentary University School blue T-shirt on Friday.  Kindergarten AM students will receive one on Monday morning. Thank you to our amazing and generous School Council and Parent Association for providing funds to purchase them.  Opportunities to purchase University School merchandise will be available later in the school year.

Parent Association Casino Fundraiser – Volunteers Needed

Want to help generate key funds to support and enhance learning for all our children's education?

University School Council has been awarded casino fundraising dates on Thursday, November 13 and Friday, November 14 at Elbow River Casino. This is our most significant fundraiser, taking place every 18–24 months.

We need 40 volunteers to cover shifts over the two days (11 a.m.–7 p.m., 7 p.m.–3:30 a.m., or 11 p.m.–3:30 a.m.).

Proceeds from this fundraiser are used to support and enhance learning for all children at University School. Prior year proceeds added books to the library, Chromebooks and iPads, replaced recess playground equipment and supported school residences; allowing students to experience new activities and learning.

If you are looking for a way to help support these initiatives, here is your chance! We require 40 volunteers to be scheduled for a variety of casino support roles over 2 days in the following shifts 11am-7pm, 7pm-3:30am or 11pm-3:30am.

Come, meet and work at the casino with our community of parents, grandparents and friends of University School.

Anyone over 18 is welcome, no prior experience or volunteer clearance required, we just need your time! We'll even feed you too!

Community BBQ – Everyone Welcome

Please mark your calendars for Sept 20. We are combining the (rescheduled) Neighbour Day BBQ & Movie in the Park!

             5 PM BBQ
