Good morning, University School families!
We hope you had a wonderful weekend and were able to enjoy the amazing warm weather we’ve been lucky to have. It looks like it will continue throughout the week, which is a welcome treat for January!
Starting today, registration is open for Kindergarten, as well as for new Grade 1–12 students for the 2026–27 school year. Children are eligible for Kindergarten in September 2026 if they turn 5 years old on or before December 31, 2026. Please feel free to share this information with friends, neighbours, and families in the University School communities who may be looking to join us.
We are pleased to welcome several Teacher Candidates who will be working with us until mid-April. They will be learning alongside our staff and supporting students in classrooms across the school.
Please join us in welcoming:
- Alisha Saadat – Grade 2 (Ms. Gibson’s class)
- Kass Konicki – Grade 4 (Ms. Connellan’s class)
- Samaara Laquis-Bhupsingh – Grade 2 (M. Sera-Crawford’s class)
- Sophia Giocoli – Grade 4 (Ms. Rowley’s class)
We are excited to have them with us and appreciate the valuable energy and enthusiasm they bring to our community.
Wishing everyone a great week ahead!
Warmly,
Jennifer McTighe and Lori Bonanno

Family Literacy Day
January 27, 2026 is Canada’s Family Literacy Day. We encourage you to take a look at the website to learn more about family literacy and explore some at-home activities and resources. Simple routines, like reading a story together or watching a book being read aloud on YouTube, can go a long way in fostering a love of reading.
