Good morning and happy Monday!
We hope everyone had a restful weekend. Even though the weather has not felt very winter-like, this season continues to bring a lot of energy and learning into our school days.
A reminder that Teacher’s Convention is coming up later this week, followed by the Family Day holiday. We hope this provides families with an opportunity to enjoy some extra time together and a well-deserved break.
We are also looking ahead to our Winter Ball on February 26, hosted by our Parent Council. It promises to be a fun evening for our school community to come together and perhaps winter weather will make an appearance again by then.
Lastly, we are currently in need of a few essential clothing items to support students during the school day. If families are willing and able, we would greatly appreciate donations of new underwear for boys and girls ages 5 to 8, as well as pants for children ages 5 to 10, such as sweatpants or leggings that are easy to put on. Donations can be dropped off at the school office. Thank you for your continued generosity and support of our students.
Wishing everyone a great week of learning.
Jennifer McTighe and Lori Bonanno
February | Black History Month
February is Black History Month, a time to learn about, celebrate, and honour the histories, contributions, and achievements of Black Canadians and Black individuals around the world. Throughout the month, students will engage in ageappropriate learning that highlights diversity, community, and the importance of equity and inclusion. At University School, we believe these conversations help build empathy, understanding, and a sense of belonging for all students, and we appreciate our families’ support as we continue to learn and grow together.
