Dear University Families,
Happy Monday! We hope you all had a restful weekend. It’s hard to believe we are already two weeks away from Winter Break, and the next couple of weeks will be full of learning, classroom activities, and seasonal excitement. We appreciate your support in helping students stay focused and engaged as we wrap up this stretch together.
As we move through this busy season, an important reminder about school safety procedures:
- All visitors must check in at the front office when entering the school.
- If you are picking up your child, please check in and wait in the office. Staff will call your student down to meet you.
- Only cleared volunteers who have signed in at the office for the day may be in the hallways or near classrooms.
These procedures are essential to keeping our students and school community safe, and we appreciate your cooperation and understanding. Wishing you and your family a wonderful week ahead!
Warmly,
Jennifer McTighe and Lori Bonanno

Minds Matter | Healthy Screen Time Habits
With the banning of Social Media for all kids under 16 happening in Australia, it is a great time to explore the concept of healthy screen time given it’s known impacts on social development and mental health. Please see the Minds Matter Newsletter developed by the CBE in conjunction with the Recovery Alberta Team highlighting healthy screen time habits this month.
Message from School Council
University School Family Movie Night - Ice Age - Thursday, December 11
Please join us on Thursday, December 11 for University School's Family Movie Night, where we'll be watching Ice Age.
Doors will open at 5:45 and the movie will start at 6:00! Entry will be by donation because we want everyone to be able to attend. There will be a cash-only concession with treats like chips, drinks, and other sweets. Bring a blanket, pyjamas, friends, and some cash for the concession! The movie is 90 minutes long. Movie night should wrap up between 7:30 and 8:00 pm.
As a reminder, every child MUST be accompanied by an adult, so please plan on staying for the duration of the movie. If you can volunteer with setting up, cleaning up, or would like to donate items for the concession stand, please contact School Council ues.school.council@gmail.com. We are so grateful for your support and time in putting these events on for the students!
We hope to see you there!
