Monday Message | May 18, 2026
We hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend, whether it was spent outdoors braving the cooler temperatures or staying cozy and recharging indoors.
This week, we are pleased to share highlights from recent academic and enrichment opportunities that reflect the strong culture of learning at University School.
Celebrating Academic Engagement and Enrichment Opportunities
University School students continue to engage in a variety of academic contests and enrichment opportunities throughout the year, supporting creativity, problem‑solving, global awareness, and a love of learning.
Recently, interested students in Grades 4, 5, and 6 participated in the 2026 Calgary Elementary School Math Contest (CESMC), which included 48 schools and more than 3,400 registered students across Alberta. Several University School students earned Certificates of Distinction for scoring in the top 25% of participants at their grade level, and one student achieved top individual standing in the contest! We are proud of all students who chose to participate and represented our school with commitment and perseverance.
Students have also taken part in the Global Snack Challenge, a province‑wide initiative connected to International Education Week that invites students to demonstrate creativity, cultural understanding, and personal storytelling through art. This year, two University School students received Honourable Mention recognition in the Grades 2–3 category, standing out among submissions from across the province.
These accomplishments reflect the strong culture of learning at University School, and we are proud of all students who participated.
Here’s to another great week of learning together.
