Dear University School Families,
We hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!
It has been great to see students continuing to settle into the routines of the school year, reconnect with friends, build new relationships and find those little “glimmers” throughout their days.
Last week, we were excited to welcome the Calgary Flames Classroom Crew to University School! Students had the opportunity to get active and have some fun while learning and practicing a variety of floor hockey skills.
There was lots of energy, teamwork and enthusiasm in the gym throughout the day. Thank you to the Flames Classroom Crew for spending the day with us and providing such a fun experience for our students!
Thank you to all of the families who joined us for our Open House/Meet the Teacher evening last week. It was wonderful to see so many families at the school, connecting with one another, meeting staff and having students proudly show off their classrooms and learning spaces.
A special thank you to our School Council and Parent Association for providing the popsicle treats for everyone to enjoy. We really appreciate their continued support in helping make events like this a little more special for our students and families.
A reminder that school pictures will be taken on Tuesday, September 22. All students will have their individual photo taken that day, so get those smiles ready!
Our Assistant Principal, Lori Bonanno, and I welcome your questions, feedback, and ideas. My door is always open, and we encourage you to reach out whenever there is something we can help with. Our school is strongest when families and staff communicate openly and work together to support our students.
We appreciate your continued partnership and look forward to another great week of learning and growing together.
Jennifer McTighe and Lori Bonanno
Dress for the Weather Daily!
As we move into the fall season, please help ensure your child comes to school dressed appropriately for the weather. Students go outside for recess every day unless the temperature is minus 20°C or colder (including wind chill). Classes may also be outdoors for Physical Education and Outdoor Education and other learning activities throughout the year.
Words of wisdom ... "There is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing." A warm, waterproof jacket, appropriate footwear, and layers can
make all the difference in helping students stay comfortable, active, and ready to learn outdoors.
Thank you for helping your child arrive prepared for whatever Alberta weather brings our way!

Looking for Volunteers!
There are lots of ways to help out at University School beyond field trips! We are looking for volunteers who may have some time during the school day to help with things such as photocopying, laminating, cutting and preparing materials for classrooms.
A reminder that CBE volunteers are required to complete the volunteer registration process each school year. If you are interested in lending a hand, please contact the school office. We would be very grateful for the extra help!
Please visit this link to learn more about volunteering with the CBE. Parents and guardians can register as volunteers through the SchoolEngage tab in their MyCBE account.
As part of the registration process, all volunteers must review the POPA requirements and acknowledge their agreement with the conditions outlined in the form.
