Dear University School Families,

What a beautiful stretch of summer-like weather we’ve had! We hope everyone had a chance to enjoy some sunshine and time outside over the weekend. It’s hard to believe we are already heading into the final full week of September. Students are settling into routines, classrooms are busy with learning, and it has been wonderful to see our school community coming together.

Picture Day

A reminder that School Picture Day is Tuesday, September 22. Both individual student photos and class photos will be taken during the school day. We look forward to seeing lots of smiles!

School Council & Parent Association Meeting – Wednesday, September 23

All University School parents and guardians are invited to join us for our first School Council and Parent Association meeting of the year on Wednesday, September 23, from 5:30–6:30 p.m.

The meeting will be held online, making it easy to join from home. It’s a great opportunity to hear what’s happening at the school, connect with other
families, and be part of our school community.

The online meeting link will be sent to families prior to Wednesday’s meeting. We hope you can join us!

Non-Instructional Day – Friday, September 25

A reminder that Friday, September 25 is a non-instructional day and there will be no school for students. Teachers will be at school participating in professional learning and collaborative work throughout the day.

Traffic Safety Around the School

With the busy traffic at arrival and dismissal, we are asking everyone to please take a little extra care when driving around the school. In particular, please do not make U-turns in front of the school. U-turns in this busy area create an additional safety concern for students and families who are walking, crossing the street, or getting in and out of vehicles.

Please follow all posted traffic and parking signs, slow down around the school, and take the extra few moments needed to ensure everyone arrives and leaves safely.

Patrols are starting up again this week! 🚸

As we head back into our school routines, please take the time to follow the lead of our patrols when crossing the road. We’ll have our experienced Grade 6 patrols alongside our new Grade 5 trainees helping to keep our school community safe.

Please keep an eye out for our student patrollers at the crosswalk and use extra caution when approaching the crossing area. Thank you for supporting our student leaders and helping make our crossings safe for everyone!
