Monday Message | Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of our University School students, families, and community!

On behalf of your University School staff family, we wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with warmth, connection and time spent with those who matter most.

Thanksgiving is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the many things we have to be grateful for. At University School, we are especially thankful for our curious and enthusiastic learners, the dedicated staff who support and inspire them each day, and the families who partner with us in their children's learning journeys.

We are grateful for the small moments that make a big difference: a student discovering something new, a friendship growing, a challenge overcome, or the excitement of finally understanding something that once seemed difficult. These moments remind us that learning is about so much more than academics. It is also about building confidence, developing relationships, showing kindness and growing together.

We were excited to kick off our Marty Chan Writing Residency on Friday, with more sessions continuing throughout this week!

Marty Chan is an award-winning Canadian author and playwright, well known for his engaging children's books, including The Mystery of the Frozen Brains and The Mystery of the Graffiti Ghoul. Through humour, storytelling and interactive activities, Marty inspires young writers to explore their creativity, develop their ideas and discover the power of their own voices.

We look forward to seeing how this experience sparks imagination, builds confidence, and encourages our students to see themselves as authors and storytellers!

A reminder that there is no school today, Monday, October 12, for the Thanksgiving holiday. Classes resume tomorrow, Tuesday, October 13.

From our University School family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving!

We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Tuesday fo finish another great week of learning and growing together.

Students Require Chaperones

This is a School Council event run by volunteers. Any teachers or school staff in attendance are there as our guests. Children MUST attend with a chaperone who is responsible for their supervision. We ask all adults to help us create a safe and enjoyable event for everyone. Please talk to your children about the following rules before the event:

  1. Do not climb onto the stage. The DJ's equipment could get damaged, and there is a risk of crowding and falling.
  2. Do not destroy school property or decorations.
  3. Stay within the allowed zones of the school. If a hallway is dark or blocked off, please stay out.
  4. Walking feet only. Running isn't safe during this event, as the gym and hallways can become quite crowded. We've seen children crash into each other, fall and get stepped on. Please encourage walking feet throughout the event.
