Dear University Families,

Busy June

As we begin another week together, it is hard to believe that we have just three weeks of school remaining. June is always a busy and exciting time as students continue their learning, participate in year-end activities, and reflect on all they have accomplished throughout the year.

Thank You for Garden and Green Space Care

Thank you to the families and community members who have already spent time helping care for the gardens and green spaces around our school. Your efforts make a noticeable difference and help create a welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. As the growing season continues, there are still opportunities for additional volunteers to lend a hand. If you enjoy spending time outdoors and would like to help keep our school grounds looking their best, please contact Andrea Trainor at andrea@uhcacalgary.org or (403) 512-8160.

Provincial Achievement Tests (PATs)

A reminder to our Grade 6 families that students will be writing the Science Provincial Achievement Test on Friday, June 12. We wish all of our Grade 6 students the very best as they demonstrate their learning and understanding. We know they will approach the assessment with confidence and effort.

Dress for the Changing Weather

The forecast this week shows periods of rain and cooler temperatures. Students will continue to go outside for recess and participate in outdoor learning opportunities whenever possible. Please help your child come prepared for the weather each day with appropriate clothing and footwear. Whether students are learning on the playground, exploring outdoor spaces with their classes, or taking part in learning on the land opportunities, being dressed for the weather helps everyone make the most of these experiences.

Dismissal Safety

Thank you as well to families for helping keep our school community safe during arrival and dismissal times. We appreciate everyone using designated crosswalks, following traffic signage, and being mindful not to block the driveways of our neighbours. These small actions help ensure the safety of all students and model responsible citizenship for our children.

Special Year-End Events

With just three weeks remaining in the school year, there is still much learning, growth, and excitement ahead . We are also looking forward to several special year-end events, including our Grade 6 Celebration on the afternoon of June 23 and our School Year-End Assembly on the morning of June 25 as we come together to recognize and celebrate another wonderful year of learning.

Thank you for your continued support throughout the school year. Here's to another week of learning together!

Sports Day

Dear Families,

We’re excited to announce that our school’s annual Sports Day will take place on Monday, June 22, from approximately 10:00 to 11:40 AM

To help make this event a success, we are seeking parent volunteers to assist with activity stations and support staff throughout the morning. If you are available and have current volunteer clearance with the school, please email Mr. Cater at your earliest convenience.

Family Picnic Lunch (bring your lunch)

Following Sports Day, we invite all families to join us for a picnic lunch on the school field (weather permitting), from approximately 11:40 AM to 12:25 PM. Please note that lunch will not be provided, so students and families will need to bring their own meals.

BUSING AND TRANSPORTATION REGISTRATION

Families are now able to register for school bus service for the 2026-2027 school year. If you are within the bus zone, registration is now available through your MyCBE account .

Families must register by Sunday, June 14, 2026 for students to be added to routes for the start of the next school year.

LEAVING EARLY FOR THE SUMMER

Is your family leaving school early for summer vacation before June 26, or are you coming back after the first day of school, August 31? If so, please complete an extended absence form and email to the school at University@cbe.ab.ca This ensures all students
leave the school with their indoor shoes and any school work that has accumulated over the year.

LOST AND FOUND

The lost and found is again overflowing! Ask your student to check to see if they have anything in it! We do try to return items that have names on them, however it is always a good idea to have your child look. All lost and found left unclaimed will be donated
noon June 29

FEES AND WAIVERS

As a reminder, all fees have been posted to your student’s MyCBE account. If you could please check to make sure all outstanding fees have been paid.

No child is ever denied access to an education in The Calgary Board of Education (CBE) because of an inability to pay. If you cannot afford the fees, there are several ways to qualify for a central fee waiver.

Waiver applications for the current school year are found online through your MyCBE account and are available from the start of the school year until June 30.

Here’s to another great week of learning together. Jennifer McTighe and Lori Bonanno
