Monday Message | June 1, 2026
Dear University Families,
As we move into June, it has been wonderful to see so many classes take advantage of the warmer weather for outdoor learning opportunities. It is a gift to be situated where we are, with access to natural spaces that invite learning and curiosity. These experiences allow students to connect their learning to the world around them while developing observation, exploration, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Dress for the Weather
The forecast suggests a wet week ahead. Please ensure your child comes to school dressed for the weather, including appropriate footwear and a jacket, as students will continue to spend time outdoors whenever possible.
PATs
Last week, our Grade 6 students completed their first Provincial Achievement Test (PAT) of the year. The writing assessment gave students an opportunity to showcase their learning and reflect on the progress they have made throughout the year. While there were certainly a few nerves, students approached the experience with determination and confidence. We are very proud of the effort and positive attitude they demonstrated.
Additional PATs will take place over the coming weeks. We encourage students to continue approaching these assessments with confidence, remembering that they are one opportunity to demonstrate their learning and growth. We know our students are well prepared, and we look forward to celebrating their continued efforts and accomplishments.
Fun Lunch
A reminder that our next Fun Lunch is this Thursday, featuring Subway. Thank you to our School Council and parent volunteers for helping make these opportunities possible for students.
Our Garden
Thank you as well to the families and community members who have volunteered to help care for the gardens at the front of our school. Your willingness to contribute your time and energy helps keep our outdoor spaces welcoming, vibrant, and beautiful for everyone who learns, works, and visits here.
There is still more work that can be done so we are happy to have more people join! Please reach out to Andrea Trainor if you are interested in helping (andrea@uhcacalgary.org or (403) 512-8160)
Here’s to another great week of learning together.
