Dear Families,

What an exciting first week we’ve had at University School! Thank you to all of our families for your patience, encouragement, and support as students settled into new routines. It has been wonderful to see the joy and energy students bring to their classrooms each day.

On Friday, we gathered for a short assembly to introduce our focus for the year:

I Care, I Matter, I Belong. I Can Grow and Achieve Great Things!

We also introduced all of our amazing University staff and student teachers, so students could begin putting names to faces and feel connected to the caring adults who are here to support them. This guiding message will help shape how we learn, work, and grow together this school year.

Student Safety During Drop-Off & Pick-Up

Keeping students safe is a shared responsibility, and we truly appreciate your help. Please remind your children to use the crosswalk, watch for traffic, and avoid distractions like headphones when they are near the school. If you are driving, we ask that you slow down and follow school zone speed limits, stay alert and avoid distractions, and please leave room at the curved portion of the street so buses can turn safely.

If there are any changes to your child’s bus routine (to or from school), please call the main office at 403-777-6240 to let us know. This helps us ensure all students are safe and accounted for.

A very important reminder: the staff parking lot is for staff only. Families should not use it for parking, drop-off, pick-up, or walking through. It is a very busy space and keeping it clear helps everyone stay safe.

Gentle Reminder: No Dogs on School Property

Dogs are not permitted on school property unless they are accredited service animals. While we know many children enjoy seeing pets at drop-off or pick-up, this rule helps keep all students safe and comfortable. Some children may have allergies or fears, and even the calmest dogs can act unpredictably in busy spaces. Thank you for your understanding and support.

We are looking forward to another great week of learning and growing together!

Warmly,

Jennifer McTighe and Lori Bonanno
