Precautions for the Solar Eclipse
On Monday, April 8, 2024, a partial solar eclipse will be visible in Calgary. The solar event will begin just before noon and conclude by 2 PM, with the maximum coverage occurring at 12:43 PM.
We know that this provides a unique learning experience for students and staff; however, there can be serious impacts to vision as a result of viewing the eclipse in an unsafe manner.
During this partial solar eclipse on Monday, all students will remain inside.

Planning for the 2024-25 School Year
We have heard from about 175 University School families through the form and will be reaching out to the rest early next week. If you have not already completed the form please do as soon as possible.
We will be working on staffing during the next few weeks for the upcoming 2024-25 school year. It is important for us to gather accurate data about the number of students who will be attending University School as this can have impacts on things such as staffing, class sizes, and scheduling.
We ask that all families who have not already completed the survey to do so ASAP. Click here to complete this short form, so that we can continue our planning for the upcoming school year.
You can access the form by clicking the link above or by scanning the QR Code below.

Registration for the 2024-25
Registration for all new students to University School remains open!
Information for registering your child to attend University School or another CBE school can be found on the CBE website or accessing the following link: CBE Registration. Registration can be completed online through School Engage.
We are planning an open house in later spring for all families interested in attending University School for the 2024-25 school year.
We look forward to welcoming you and your child to University School!
If your child is already a student of University School and will be returning next year then there is no need to register as you are automatically re-enrolled.
Lunch Supervision Fees
Recently we have received a number of questions regarding the Lunch Supervision Fees that are appearing in your PowerSchool account. These fees were recently added to accounts of students who stay at school for lunch and had not yet registered. Information had been sent out at the start of the school year reminding families to register but not everyone id. If a student stays during the lunch period, they are required to pay the annual fee. Lunch Supervision is offered to all students in Grades 1- 6 and provides supervision while they are eating and during their break time for play at lunch.
These fees are used by schools to hire lunchroom supervisors. Income tax receipts are issued for Lunch Supervision Fee: receipts may be included as child care expenses for income tax purposes.
Here is further information regarding Lunch Supervision: https://cbe.ab.ca/programs/noon-supervision/Pages/default.aspx
Please note that the CBE has a waiver process for families who are unable to pay the fees. Please view this link for further information Fees and Waivers.
