Hats on For Mental Health - May 7
Raise awareness of the importance of mental health in schools! Wear a hat on May 7!
Every year the Canadian Mental Health Association dedicates a week in May to raise awareness of Mental Health. This year, Mental Health Week will run May 5-9, and Hats On! for Mental Health Day will take place on Wednesday, May 7.
Throughout the month of May, University School will be engaging in different activities to support student and staff mental health and awareness of the importance of looking after our body and mind. We are fortunate to be part of such an amazing learning community. Sometimes we just need to slow down and reflect on how truly lucky we are!
Drumming with Skip Wolfleg
We were very honoured to have Clarence “Skip” Wolfeg Jr. join University School for three days this past week to share with us. Skip is a well-known Indigenous drummer, singer and storyteller from the Siksika Nation. Music has always been integral to Indigenous storytelling, healing, creating positivity and empowerment. We were fortunate that Skip shared some of his knowledge of the land as well as singing and drumming. Students also had an opportunity to drum alongside skip. On Thursday, this took place outside and classes said that they could hear his drumming as far away as the pond!
Fun Lunch - Banzai Japanese Cuisine
The next fun lunch is from Banzai and they are offering choices such as bento boxes and rolls.
The last day to order the Banzai fun lunch is, Saturday, May 10. Please go to Healthy Hunger to place your order.
The fun lunch will be distributed on Thursday, May 16.
Morning Kindergarten students can wait until 11:10 am to receive their fun lunch if ordered. If they attend Summit they will have their food brought to them there.
