The last day to order your fun snack is today, Saturday, March 8. COBS Bread was selected as the snacks can be easily brought home to share or enjoy after sunset for any students who may be fasting.
Please go to Healthy Hunger to place your order.
Snacks and Lunches for Students
Thank you to everyone who has donated snacks for students over the last number of months. We continue to have many students who come down for snacks throughout the day and are in need of more snacks as we have run out.
If your family is able to help, we would be grateful for donations of healthier food items such as fresh fruit (apples, bananas, oranges), packs of goldfish crackers, granola bars, apple sauce packets, fruit bars, etc. All items need to be single-serve and pre-packed. Items can be brought to the main doors of the school or your child can bring them down to the office. Thank you so much for your help!
Also, University School is part of the Brown Bagging for Calgary’s Kids (BB4CK) program which provides prepared healthy lunches to Calgary Schools for students who are in need. Through this program, we will be able to provide daily lunches to some of our students. If you feel as though your family would benefit from this program, please contact Ms. Bonanno (ljbonanno@cbe.ab.ca).
Not Getting School Emails?
If you’re not getting any email messages from University School or the CBE, your emails may be blocked from getting to you. Blocks can happen if you intentionally or accidentally tag an email as spam or junk, or sometimes when your email server senses that an email is coming from an electronic mailing system and tries to prevent spamming and block our emails.
Here’s how to get the communication flowing again:
- Add cbecommunications@cbe.ab.ca, transportation@cbe.ab.ca, studentfees@cbe.ab.ca, jplang@cbe.ab.ca, and university@cbe.ab.ca to your email Safe Senders list.
- Remove any email blocks on your end:
For Hotmail or Outlook.com, go to your settings, look for the Junk Mail option, and then the Blocked Senders tab. Find any cbe.ab.ca email addresses and remove them from the blocked list.
For Gmail, go to your settings, choose to See All Settings, and then go to the Filters and Blocked Addresses tab. Find any cbe.ab.ca email addresses, click the checkbox next to them and click Unblock.
For other email addresses, contact your email provider to find out how to remove email blocks. - Email us and ask us to remove any SchoolMessenger email blocks on our end

Learn and Share | School Planning
We know we make better decisions to support student learning when we build understanding and work together. That’s why we are asking you to share your perspectives about our school development plan, school budget and school fees.
- The survey is open from March 7, 2025 to March 31, 2025
Please click here to complete the survey.
Watch this short video to learn about the planning work schools do to improve and support student learning.
We will also be sharing a presentation on this at the upcoming School Council and Parent Association Meeting taking place this Wednesday. See information above for links.
Your input is important to us, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your perspectives.
Assurance Survey - Grade 4
Alberta Education is conducting its annual survey of grade 4, 7, and 10 students and their parents or guardians. This survey will gather essential information about students’ and parents’ school experiences, helping to drive continuous improvements in our education system. This survey will remain open until March 21, 2025.
Parents or guardians of grade 4, 7, and 10 students should have received an email from CBE School Improvement containing a link to the survey, along with a unique Random-Access Code and detailed instructions.
To date, we have only had 8 families complete the survey, which is approximately 15% of families in Grade 4. To provide us with accurate data, we would prefer to see more than 60% of our families respond.
We strongly encourage all eligible parents and guardians to participate and share their feedback on their children’s education. Survey participants will be asked about various topics, including:
• creating welcoming, caring, respectful, and safe learning environments;
• student learning engagement; and
• parental involvement in children’s education.
If you require a paper survey or one in another language, such as Ukrainian, Punjabi, Cree, Korean, Denesųłįné, Tagalog, Chinese, Spanish, Arabic, or Urdu, please reach out to the school via email or phone.
By completing the survey, you are assisting Alberta Education, CBE, and our school in identifying both areas of strength and areas that need improvement. Please ensure that you complete the survey by March 21, 2025.
If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
