Save the Date - Sports Day and Picnic
We’re excited to announce that our school’s annual Sports Day will take place on the morning of Thursday, June 19, from approximately 10:00 AM to 11:40 AM.
To help make this event a success, we are seeking volunteers to assist with activity stations and support staff throughout the morning. If you are available and have current volunteer clearance with the school, please email Mr. Cater at your earliest convenience.
Following Sports Day, we invite all current University School families to join us for a picnic lunch on the school field, from approximately 11:40 AM to 12:25 PM. Please note that lunch will not be provided, so students and families will need to bring their own meals.
Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to a fun and active day together!
Mr. Cater

Grade 6 PATs
Grade 6 students will soon be writing the rest of the official Provincial Achievement Tests (PATs), having already written English Language Arts and Literacy - Part A.
The PATs are a snapshot of student learning and do not always reflect the success of the students or the amount and level of learning that has taken place. Students will use the skills and knowledge they have acquired since beginning kindergarten, not just what was learned this year or even at University School for that matter.
The dates for the upcoming PATs are as follows
- Friday, June 13 - Mathematics - Part A
- Monday, June 16 - English Language Arts and Literacy - Part B
- Tuesday, June 17 - Mathematics - Part B
- Wednesday, June 18 - Social Studies
** Please note that there is no Science PAT this year as it is the first year the new Science Curriculum is being taught.
Individual Student Profiles (ISPs) are available to schools in the fall of the following school year. School staff then share the ISPs with parents or parents can access results directly using myPass. A record of the ISP will be retained electronically in the student record. This profile is prepared by Alberta Education after the marking and scoring of tests has been completed and the final scores are calculated; it will present your child’s performance on each test in relation to provincial standards.
Reports that show how well our school’s students did as a group in relation to provincial standards, will be available at our school and on our school’s website in the fall. Parents/Guardians are invited to our fall School Council Meeting to discuss the results at that time.
School Council & Parent Association Meeting - June 11
We look forward to seeing all University School families represented at the upcoming School Council and Parent Association meeting. The meeting is on Wednesday, June 11 @ 6:30pm. The meeting is being held virtually as it allows for more of you to join and participate.
We will be sharing about some of the amazing things that have happened this year and a bit on the direction next year. We are hoping that the new principal, Jennifer McTighe will be able to join, and School Council will be sharing the results of the recent survey they sent out. If you have not already done so,please complete this survey by tomorrow, Monday, June 9. The survey should only take a few minutes to complete, and will help inform planning for the 2025/2026 school year.
The meetings are a great opportunity to find out more about University School, ask questions, and be a part of something bigger. You can be an active participant in the meeting or just listen to what is being said, all from the comfort of your own home! It is with the support of University School Families and the community that we can provide such wonderful learning opportunities for all students.
