Sports Day & Family Picnic - June 24
University School’s Annual Sports Day & Family Picnic is taking place on Monday, June 24. The event will run from approximately 10:00 AM to 11:40 AM, and it will be followed by a family picnic. We are inviting all families to join their child’s class for a picnic at 11:40am, which will be held outside on the school field. Lunch will NOT be provided on that day, so students and families will be required to bring their own food.
Thank you to all of the volunteers who have signed up to help make this day a success we are looking forward to having the school come together and participate in more than 18 different activities.

National Indigenous Peoples Day & Summer Solstice
In acknowledgement of National Indigenous Peoples Day and Summer Solstice many Univeristy School classes participated in trips down to Edworthy Park or spent time outside near or at the pond on Thursday, June 20 and Friday, June 21. By learning on, from, and through the the land students are better grounded and able to understand the reciprocal relationship that we have with Mother Earth.
To further acknowledge and support the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Calls to Action, all CBE schools will share their renewed TRC Commitment to Action with their school community in honour of National Indigenous Peoples Day.
University School acknowledges and supports the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Calls to Action, and makes the following continued commitment to action for the 2024-2025 school year:
To continue to learn about and through Indigenous knowledges focused on building student capacity for intercultural understanding, empathy, and mutual respect. The Indigenous Education Holistic Life Long Learning Framework will help ground us as we further explore Spirit: To Be, and Heart: To Belong as part of our commitment.
Coins or a Cut Celebration
Unviersity School came together on Monday, June 17 to celebrate the awareness that was raised aroud this important cause, the impressive amount of funds that were collected, and to watch some students, staff, and family members cut their hair to be made into wigs for children.
Thank you to everyone who supported this campaign of camaraderie, compassion, and community as we look to find more ways of coming together to give back in the coming year.
As a school community we raised $8427 to date, and had four people donate their hair!
Frisbee Rob
We were fortunate to have Frisbee Rob, a Guinness Book of World Record holding Frisbee Master. Frisbee Rob shared his story of persevereance, determination, failing, and lots of hard work which has allowed him to be as successful as he is today. He performed some incredible tricks and then ran workshops for the rest of the day providing each class an opportunity to find their disc throwing talents.
