UES Gift Card Drive - Supporting UES Families

At this time of year, so many of us are looking for ways to contribute to the well-being of those around us. For others, it is a time when a helping hand is so greatly appreciated. As a community, by working together we can continue to support one another.

If your family is looking for a way to support, please consider donating a gift card as part of the University School Gift Card Drive to be able to help some University School families.  We will ensure the gift cards are shared amongst families that need a little bit of help.

Some gift card ideas are: Walmart, Safeway, Save on Foods, Canadian Tire, Tim Hortons, Subway, zoo or movie tickets, bus passes, Visa or Mastercard. Gift cards can be brought down to the office between Monday, December 2 and Monday, December 16.

In turn, if your family would benefit from support, please reach out to your child’s teacher.

Winter Assembly

In the Winter Assembly, students showcased a variety of presentations, including Cinquain winter poems, a look at winter celebrations from around the world, and a presentation on winter and birds. The assembly also featured a video of winter songs and poems. The Grade 3s wrapped up the assembly with a performance of the 'Ski Rap,' led by Ms. Copithorne. A big thank you to Ms. Kim and Ms. Stevenson for organizing this joyful assembly and to all of the guests who came to share with the students!

Thank You Student Teachers

We have been fortunate to have seven student teachers working in classes supporting students while honing their teaching skills and learning from the amazing Univeristy School staff. It is always nice having fresh ideas, different perspectives, and affirmation that the strategies, techniques, and approaches University School is using are up to par.

We look forward to welcoming eight new student teachers from Mount Royal University in the spring and welcoming back Ms. Van de Geer from the University of Calgary who will be returning to Room 7 (EES).

Like years in the past, we are having international teachers visiting University School in January to learn about the great work that is happening here and to learn from our teachers. This year they are coming from Australia!

Fun Snack - Saucy Bread Co Pretzels

We are serving up Saucy Bread Co Pretzels for the next Fun Snack. You have a choice between a butter & salt, three cheese, cheesy pizza, or a cinnamon sugar soft pretzel. These were a hit in the past and were requested again for this year.

The pretzels will be given out on Thursday, December 12. The last day to purchase the pretzels is Saturday, December 7.

Please go to Healthy Hunger to place your order and also see what is available for the rest of the year.

Gymnastics Wrap Up

Thank you for helping us keep students safe by having them dress appropriately for gymnastics each day. Students had a blast finishing up gymnastics by navigating through some tricky obstacles.
